Before the End

Before the end, I gave my all, I tried to stand, refused to fall. Through every crack, through every bend, I kept on hoping till the end.

I held on tight to fading light, Pretending wrong would turn out right. I stitched my heart each time it broke, And smiled beneath the silent smoke.

I stayed when leaving felt so wise, Believed the truth behind your lies. I drowned my doubts, ignored the pain, And danced alone in pouring rain.

Before the end, I tried and tried, With every tear I forced aside. I built a world that couldn’t stay, Watched slowly as it slipped away.

I gave you parts I never show, The deepest sides you’ll never know. I lost myself to keep you near, And fed your love with all my fear.

I whispered hopes into the dark, Still searching for a single spark. But every dream I tried to save, Was slowly fading to a grave.

And in the end, when all was done, When every fight I fought was won, There came a truth I couldn’t deny— I was the one who stayed to cry.
