1 Somnath Jyotirlinga

Out of the 12 Jyotirlingas, the first one is Somnath Jyotirlinga. This Somnath temple is situated in Veraval's Prabhas Patan, Gujarat. This Somnath temple is situated on the sea shore, that too of the Arabian Sea and a very beautiful view of the sunset is visible. This Somnath temple was also attacked, that too by a Muslim ruler Mohammad Ghazni, on the Somnath temple and many people tried to repair the Somnath temple but even then someone or the other would attack it, but later when our deputy prime minister Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel got it reconstructed, the construction was completed in 1951. This Somnath temple is situated in the coastline Prabhas Patan Saurashtra region of Gujarat and it is spread 400 kms South West of Ahmedabad and 82 kms South of Junagadh. And the other place is in Gujarat, the railway station there is Veraval, that is 7 kms and the airport of Bunder is spread up to 130 kms and the airport of Porbandar which is in South East is Diu airport, that is 85 kms from there.

2.Mallikarjuna Jyotirlinga

This Mallikarjuna Jyotirlinga is located in Srisailam in Andhra Pradesh and here there are idols of Ganesha and Kartikeya. Its history is that at that time there was the Satvahan Dynasty and the temple here existed in the second century and its king was Harihar Van, he also ruled from the 14th to the 15th century of Vijayanagara. Then later this temple was constructed, that too by the Ready Kingdom of that time which used to be the Ready Dynasty from the 12th to the 13th century and its architecture is spread over one or two hectares and its doors, Gappu Ram says that the tower, the structure of that time was built during the Vijayanagara period and was named Mukh Mandap, which is the hall and complex.

3. Mahakaleshwar Jyotirling

This Mahakaleshwar Jyotirlinga is located in Ujjain, Madhya Pradesh. It is a very good temple and there is also Bhavya and its history is that earlier this temple was destroyed by Iltutmish and Iltutmish was in power from 1234 to 1235 and later when it was reconstructed, Maratha Diwan Ramchandra Baba reconstructed this temple and later it was attacked again during the time of Jalaluddin and Alauddin Khilji.

4. Omkareshwar Jyotirlinga

Omkareshwar Temple is a Hindu temple. Khandwa is situated in the city of Madhya Pradesh and it is just 100 kilometers from Ujjain and it is on the banks of the Narmada and it is believed that this entire island is in the shape of Om. Its history is that this temple is of Parmar King who was the king of Malwa at that time and in the 11th century Parmar took over this temple. Later when Chauhan rulers tried to break this temple again in the 13th century and the Muslim invaders and along with them Mohammed Ghazni broke this temple completely and later this  temple came under the control of Chauhan and later Mughals also came and left without doing any renovation, later first Holkar Queen Gautam Bhai Holkar and later when his daughter Devi Ahilyabai developed this temple and later the British rulers also took the temple under them and later after the independence of India in 1947, this temple was given to the Archaeological Survey of India. 

5. Baidyanath Dham Jyotirlinga

This is Baidyanath Dham. It is in the Deoghar district of Bihar and all the devotees of Baidyanath temple take the water of the holy Ganges from Sultanganj and after a difficult journey of about 100 kms on foot to offer water to Baba. There is a Basukinath temple ahead of the Baidyanath temple. If you visit the Baidyanath temple, then if you do not visit the Basukinath temple, then your journey is considered incomplete. And here on the day of Mahashivratri or any festival, there is a huge crowd. Mahashivratri is made with great joy and enthusiasm. Now the Baijnath Shivling, how was it established? Once Ravana went to the Himalayas and pleased Lord Shiva and after doing severe penance there, he cut off his heads and started placing them on the Shivling. He was about to cut off the tenth head one by one, but Lord Shiva became pleased and returned his 10 heads. And this Shivling was to be taken to Lanka. Lord Shiva warned that if you stop anywhere on earth and keep the Shivling down, then this Shivling will be established there. So later something similar happened, Ravana stopped in the middle to blow a small conch shell. I went to take it and later saw that the Shivling was being lifted, then even Ravana went there, tried a lot to lift it but couldn't, and after being very sad I went away.

6. Bhimashankar Jyotirlinga

Bhimashankar Jyotirlinga is a Hindu temple and is located in Pune district of Maharashtra and there is a mountain spread around it and behind it there is a Bima river which flows by the side of the temple. Now its history is that in the medieval era of time, Saint Namdev had gone to Trimbakeshwar and Bhimashankar and Namdev had developed Trimbakeshwar and Bhimashankar Shine and Bhim Rathi River. This temple is built in Nagar style. It was constructed in the 18th century by Nana Phadnavis of Peshawar.

7. Ramanathaswamy Temple

This is Ramanathan Swamy Temple. It is situated in Rameswaram district of Tamil Nadu and is a Hindu temple and is one of the 12 Jyotirlingas. When Ram ji was going to Lanka, before that he worshipped Lord Shiva and then established Shivling there. Therefore, Ram ji worshipped Lord Mahadev there and hence the place was named Rameswaram. According to Firishta, Malik Kafur, the head general of Alauddin Khalji, the ruler of Delhi Sultanate, reached Rameswaram during his political campaign in spite of stiff resistance from the Pandyan princes in the early 14th century. He erected a mosque by name Alia al-Din Khaldji in honour of victory of Islam. The records left by the court historians of the Delhi Sultanate state that Malik Kafur raided Madurai, Chidambaram, Srirangam, Vriddhachalam, Rameswaram and other sacred temple towns, destroyed the temples which were sources of gold and jewels. He brought back enormous loot from Dwarasamudra and the Pandya kingdom to Delhi in 1311.

8. Nageshwar Jyotirlinga

It is very famous and special and this is a Jyotirlinga, it is also one of the 12 Jyotirlingas and it is located in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh and the river Ganges flows beside it and there are many temples of Mahadev ji beside it, many people have also destroyed the temple here, like Mohammad Gaur had destroyed this temple, then later Mansingh and Todar Mal Akbar rebuilt it and after this Aurangzeb completely destroyed the temple and built a Gyanvapi mosque there and later when Holkar of Maratha reconstructed this temple and later in 2021, it was built in the campus and the entire Kashi Vishwanath Dham corridor was built there by Prime Minister Modi ji and inaugurated it later and from the other temples, 45000 people come here but the shortage is of 6 crores, it has been done within 2024.

10 Trimbakeshwar Jyotirlinga

Trimbakeshwar Jyotirlinga. It is a Hindu temple and this place is Trimbak, which is in Nasik and it is in Maharashtra and there is a very beautiful temple here, the Godavari river also flows beside it and it is one of the 12 Jyotirlingas and it is 40 km from Nasik, this Trimbakeshwar temple was built by Balaji Bajirao and later this temple was destroyed by Aurangzeb, a little ahead of it is Brahmagiri mountain, it is a very beautiful mountain and is also good for travel, facilities are provided.

11. Kedarnath Jyotirlinga

Kedarnath Jyotirlinga is a Hindu temple and it is situated on the Garhwal Himalaya range and Mandakini river is beside it and the number of people is on the day of Akshay Tritiya which comes in the month of April and after that Kartik Purnima comes in November and a lot of people gather there to have darshan and there is also Gurikund beside it and there was a big flood here in 2013, so the temple remained standing there, there was some damage to the temple and at that time there was a cloud burst, so there was a flood.

Grishneshwar Jyotirlinga is one of the 12 Jyotirlingas. It is a Hindu temple and is located in Ellora Caves, some 300 km from Aurangabad. The present Grishneshwar Temple is mentioned in Shiva Purana, Skanda Purana, Ramayana and Mahabharata and its history is that the Delhi Sultanate destroyed this temple in the 13th and 14th centuries and rebuilt this temple and also did other construction work in this temple and later Maulaji Bhosale rebuilt the Grandfather Shivaji's temple in the 16th century and later when it was completed in 1729, after sponsorship, this temple was handed over to Queen Gautam Bhai Holkar and later the temple became attractive.
