The Woman Who Impacted My Career the Most… Was "Me"
When people ask, “Who is a woman who has made an impact on your career?” the first name that naturally comes to mind is my mother. Like many of us, I grew up watching her strength, patience, and the way she handled life’s challenges quietly yet powerfully.
But apart from my mother, there is another woman who has deeply shaped my career journey.
That woman is me.
And I say this not out of pride, but out of gratitude for the person I have slowly become.
Life doesn’t always move in a straight line. My journey, like many women’s journeys, had its share of breaks, pauses, and unexpected hurdles. There were moments when things didn’t go as planned, when progress felt slow, and when self-doubt quietly tried to take space in my mind.
During those phases, it was easy to question myself.
Am I doing enough? Am I moving too slowly? Will I ever reach where I want to be?
But something inside me always reminded me of one important truth: breaks do not define your capability. They are simply a part of the journey.
What truly matters is the courage to begin again.
Over time, I learned to treat myself with the same kindness and respect that we often give others. I started appreciating my own resilience, the ability to pause, gather strength, and continue moving forward even when the path was uncertain.
Where I am today is not the result of a perfect journey. It is the result of believing in myself during imperfect moments.
There were days when I had to rebuild confidence. There were times when I had to start again from places that felt unfamiliar. But each step taught me something valuable: growth does not always come from speed; sometimes it comes from patience and persistence.
This realization changed the way I see my own story.
Instead of measuring my journey against others, I began respecting my own pace. Instead of focusing on what was missing, I started appreciating what I had already overcome.
And that shift made all the difference.
This Women’s Day, I wanted to share a small reminder with every woman reading this.
Your journey doesn’t have to look perfect to be meaningful. Your progress doesn’t have to be fast to be powerful.
Sometimes the most important support system in your life is the one you build within yourself, the belief that you are capable of continuing, even after breaks and challenges.
So while we celebrate the women who inspire us, guide us, and support us, it is also important to acknowledge something else.
Sometimes, the woman who impacts your life the most is the one you see in the mirror every single day.
The woman who keeps showing up. The woman who keeps trying again. The woman who refuses to give up on her own story.
If this message resonates with you, I shared a short reel reflecting these thoughts here: https://www.instagram.com/minilifeofus/reel/DVnCaB8CRSM/
And today, on Women’s Day, I simply want to say this to every woman reading this:
Respect your journey. Trust your pace. And never underestimate the strength it takes to keep believing in yourself.
Thank you for choosing yourself every day.
