What is trigger in Google tag manager?

In Google Tag Manager, a trigger listens to your website or app for specific actions, like when someone submits a form, clicks a button, or views a page. When these actions happen, the trigger tells a tag to do its job. Every tag needs at least one trigger to work and respond to those actions.
Types of triggers

Firing Triggers and Trigger Exceptions
Firing triggers decide when a tag should work. A tag will activate if any of its triggers meet the right conditions. For example, if a tag has one trigger for all pages and another for just one specific page, the tag will still work on all pages.

You can set triggers at the bottom of the tag setup page. When creating a tag, you must add a trigger before saving it.
Trigger exceptions (also called "blocking triggers") stop a tag from working in certain cases. For example, if a tag is set to work on all pages but has an exception for "thankyou.html," the tag will never work on that page.
