How many types of sensors are there in mobile?

All the work you do on your mobile is done with the help of sensors. To do all the work, different sensors are used in the mobile phone and each has its own features. Some sensors are found in all the smartphones and some sensors are available in expensive smartphones.
It is very important to have a sensor in a mobile so that the movement happening around the mobile can be detected and you can get accurate information.
The sensors in a mobile phone work just like the senses in our body. Let us now know in detail how many sensors are there in a mobile phone and what is their use.
How Many Types Of Sensors Are There In Mobile
There are different types of sensors in a mobile and each has its own features. Therefore, all the sensors in a mobile work together so that we can get the output which is as follows:-
- Fingerprint Sensor
- Accelerometer Sensor
- Gyroscope Sensor
- Magnetometer Sensor
- Proximity Sensor
- Barometer Sensor
- Ambient Light Sensor
- Sound Sensor
- Pedometer Sensor
- Image Sensor
- Thermometer Sensor
- IR Blaster Sensor
1. Fingerprint Sensor
Fingerprint sensor is used in all the smartphones available today. When you use your finger to lock and unlock the phone, it is called biometric sensor. When you use your finger for password in your mobile , the biometric sensor recognizes the mark of your finger and when you use your finger to unlock your phone, it unlocks your phone after verification.
2. Accelerometer Sensor
Accelerometer sensor works for orientation in your mobile. It means that when you install any game application in your phone then it moves in horizontal mode or there is auto rotate mode in your mobile settings and when you turn it on then you view any video, game or browser in horizontal (landscape) or vertical (by holding the phone straight) form. This all happens through accelerometer sensor. This sensor is used in all smartphones.
3. Gyroscope Sensor
This sensor also works for orientation and this sensor is an advanced sensor of the accelerometer sensor and is slightly different, the work of this sensor is to measure accurate direction or movement, it is used a lot in gaming.
For example, when you play a car racing game or a game like temple run game, then to go to the right you move the mobile to the right direction and to go to the left you move the mobile to the left direction or when you watch a VR video , then you can experience the full video in the direction in which the mobile is rotated, all this happens through the gyroscope sensor.
4. Magnetometer Sensor
The compass in the smartphone works through the magnetometer sensor. This sensor is used to tell the direction in which you are standing or in which direction you want to go. This sensor is also very important.
5. Proximity Sensor
When you talk to someone then your mobile screen gets turned off. This happens because of the proximity sensor which is fitted in the display screen of your mobile. As soon as you touch your phone to your ear then the wave coming out of it goes back to the sensor as its range is very less due to which it gets turned off so that nothing gets typed by touching your skin while talking.
So, as soon as you remove your mobile from your ear, the screen turns on, this is how the sensor works and its biggest feature is that your mobile's battery is consumed less while talking to someone.
6. Barometer Sensor
Barometer sensor is not present in all mobile phones, it is mostly available in iPhone and Pixel phones. Its work is to measure your altitude i.e. how high you are above the sea level. Apart from this, air pressure and weather condition can also be detected with this sensor.
7. Ambient Light Sensor
Ambient light sensor means that when you reduce the brightness of your mobile at night or in the dark, then it automatically reduces and when you are at home during the day, then this brightness remains normal and as soon as you go out in the sunlight, then the brightness automatically increases, all this is possible only through ambient light sensor.
8. Sound Sensor
All of you must be wondering whether there is a sound sensor as well, then yes there is a sound sensor in the microphone due to which whatever you speak or record or listen to, and how softly or loudly you speak, all this is captured by the microphone and you get the result through the sound sensor.
9. Pedometer Sensor
Pedometer sensor, as the name suggests, calculates the distance covered when you walk and tells you the distance. If your mobile has a pedometer sensor, you can find out how far you have walked.
10. Image Sensor
You all must have heard about the image sensor , in fact all the smartphones have an image sensor, it plays an important role in capturing any image which is made up of many small pixels.
The sensor captures as much light as possible through which you can take a better image and the bigger the sensor, the better will be the quality of your image. This is how the image sensor works in any smartphone.
11. Thermometer Sensor
Thermometer sensor is present in all the smartphones because it is very important for the smartphone as it tells how much your phone has been heated and what is its temperature. If your phone gets too hot then it turns off the screen of your mobile. Therefore if there is no thermometer sensor then there is a risk of burning of the parts of your phone. Therefore, it is a very important sensor.
12. Infra Red Blaster Sensor
Infra Red Blaster Sensor is mostly found in Xiaomi smartphones. This sensor is not used in many smartphones. The function of this sensor is that it turns your mobile into a remote i.e. through Infra Red Blaster Sensor, you can detect any electronic device like TV, air conditioner etc. from your phone itself.
