WHY ICE APPLE WILL BE MY FAVOURITE FRUIT THIS SUMMER
Why Ice Apple Deserves More Hype This Summer
Did you guys ever have ICE APPLES , bro they are so refreshing and tasty and yummy . Every summer, I wait for one thing more than holidays, rain - ice apple and mango season. In South India, especially in villages, summer feels incomplete without eating ice apples , In telugu we call them THATI MUNJALU
I visited a village farm near to Godavarikani in Telangana with my cousins when i was a kid and honestly, and recently experiencing 42 degrees hot summer temperature reminded me why I love ice apples so much. The weather was extremely hot, the kind of heat that makes you tired within minutes. But reminding how i felt sitting under tall palm trees with a fresh ice apple in my hand somehow made everything feel calm and refreshing. The fruit was naturally cool, soft, juicy, and lightly sweet. It instantly felt better than any cold drink or ice cream.
What makes ice apple special to me is not just the taste — it is the entire feeling around it. In villages, people do not rush while eating. Everyone sits together, talks, laughs, and enjoys simple moments. It was early in the morning , i think it was my elder brother along with my cousins who had planned we slipped before my parents woke up , my elder brother (cousin) informed his dad , bro we went to the farms . we brushed and ate them , i was a kid and i ate it . I want it .
I honestly think ice apple is one of the most underrated fruits ever. Every summer, people only talk about mangoes or fancy desserts, but ice apple deserves way more attention. It is refreshing, naturally hydrating, and perfect for extreme heat. After eating it, your body actually feels cooled down. Ice apples , Lemon soda , Sharpath and toddy are underated.
Another thing I love is how connected this fruit feels like a personal connection to me , it is a nostalgic memory . Ice apple is not just a fruit here — it is part of childhood memories. I remember seeing roadside stalls during travelling Even now, the taste immediately reminds me of village summers, the refreshing feel.
The texture is also something people should experience at least once. It is soft and jelly-like, almost like nature made its own refreshing dessert. Some fruits are sweeter than others, and when served chilled, they taste even better. Fresh ice apples eaten directly near farms honestly hit differently.
I feel like more people should try local seasonal fruits instead of always choosing processed snacks and packaged drinks. Ice apple is affordable, natural, refreshing, and part of our traditional food culture. Supporting local farmers and roadside vendors also helps keep these traditions alive.
If you guys have never tried ice apple before, especially fresh ones from a village or farm area, you are seriously missing out these wonderful snacks. Do not judge it by appearance alone. One chilled bite during a hot summer afternoon is enough to make you understand why I love it so much
