What I Wish I Knew: Little Seeds for My Younger Self

If I could whisper one thing to my younger self, I would say -
"Oh dear, we do not own the planet; we have just been borrowing it for a while. Listen. Really Listen. Not just to the latest melodies, the quiet hum of the world around you, those dying plants, those plastic covers flying around, and those dripping droplets. Every small action has a ripple effect that’s beyond your sight.”
If I had understood earlier, throwing wrappers, wasting water, and leaving the lights on while leaving the room, “just this one time” adds up. Use the waste bins or carry your waste with you till you find a bin.
I wish I knew where the food on my plate came from. And where do the clothes, shoes, and all those impulsive purchases end up? If I had known how much resources and energy go into them, I would have made conscious choices.
Most importantly, if I had known that NOW was the time to connect with nature, I would have taken that stroll in the park, watered that dying plant, or helped that poor animal… only if I had known that everything that once felt creepy is just part of this beautiful ecosystem.
I wish I had spent more time understanding my surroundings and was curious enough to know how they work. It’s not the grand gestures or complicated ideas; the simple truth of nature blossoms these small habits into environmental consciousness.
Pay attention to the world around you. This little appreciation will turn into a desire to protect it.
